of the Green Trails Improvement Association
Board of Directors Meeting
Tuesday October 11, 2005
President Peter Bakas called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM at
Kennedy Jr High School. Board members present: Peter Bakas, John
Charicki, David Derbyshire, Tim Dudas, Linda Gilbert, Marg Hough, Les
Lavin, Betty Long. Board members excused: Joan Dudas, Wendy Elwood,
Rob Getz, Gerry Jackson, Tom Maslanka, Gail Robinson, Marty Volpe.
Management: Joe and Joanne Broda. Paula Gleason was Recording
Secretary. A quorum was present.

Forum
None.
Minutes
of the Prior Meeting:
Minutes of the prior meeting were reviewed. It was requested that a
duplicate of the word “rate” be deleted from the Board Motion under
Treasurer’s Report, and, correct the name of the person who made the
first motion under Management Report.
Board Motion: Tim Dudas moved to approve the amended minutes of the
September meeting, Marg Hough seconded. The motion was passed by
unanimous voice vote.
Treasurer's
Report
In Joan Dudas’ absence, Peter Bakas reviewed the September Balance
Sheet and Income and Expense Statement.
Board Motion: Les Lavin motioned to accept the check register
expenditures of $28,211.39 for October, Tim Dudas seconded. The motion
was passed by unanimous voice vote.
The directors discussed a CD coming due on 10/13 at Lisle Bank.
Board Motion: Betty Long motioned to request Management to reinvest
this maturing CD at the best possible interest rate at Lisle Savings
Bank for one year, plus or minus three months, John Charicki seconded.
The motion was passed by unanimous voice vote.
Management Report
Telephone log line items were reviewed.
Management contacted Attorney Peter Jagel to inquire about the statue
of limitations regarding liens and he stated that the liens do not
need to be renewed. The cost for him to issue a written request for
payment would be $100 per letter.
Management reported that five Austrian white pine and five Colorado
spruce trees to be planted along College Road were ordered from
Winters Nurseries & Landscape Services at a cost of $325 each, for a
total of $3,250. The purchase includes three waterings, a one-year
guarantee and a pre-winter application of an anti-desiccant.
Management also distributed a copy of a letter of opinion from McAdams
Consulting to Winters Landscape relative to disease problems of the
trees in this area.
Management has applied the adhesive numbers to all the trail light
poles north of Green Trails and east of College, with the exception of
three poles that were damaged.
Management received correspondence from the Village of Lisle regarding
a proposed guardrail on Abbeywood, east of Trinity that indicated a
guardrail is not warranted. This matter is no longer a GTIA issue.
Management discovered Dutch Elm disease in 11 trees between HF5 and
the Abbey Woods; therefore, Piper’s Tree Service removed the trees, at
a cost of $3,500. The Abbey was notified of these findings so that
they might inspect the trees on their side of the fence.
Management provided a list of September 2005 newcomers. Board
Directors are encouraged to call on newcomers in their respective
areas.

Communications
Committee
Marge Hough noted that she intends to contact the realtor using a
website that alludes to a direct relationship with the GTIA.
Parks
Committee
No report.
Nominating Committee
No report. The annual meeting will be the November meeting.
Old Business - New Business
Betty
Long requested approval to eliminate the “Where to Shop” section from
the revised Welcome Brochure so that the space could be better
utilized for additional GTIA information and all Board members in
attendance agreed.

Adjournment
Board Motion: There being no further business, John Charicki motioned
to adjourn the meeting, David Derbyshire seconded. The motion was
passed by a unanimous voice vote; the meeting was adjourned at 8:15
p.m.
