Management Report

Telephone log line items were reviewed.

Management noted that two partial payments and two payments in full have been received for 2008 delinquent assessments.

After Board approval of the March check register in the amount of $9,859.52, Management received a Nationwide Insurance invoice for a certificate of insurance that had been issued last fall.  Management prepared a check in the amount of $50, making the new March check register $9,909.52.

As directed at last month’s meeting, 20 pines were purchased and will be picked up on 4/22 by Gerry Jackson.  Planting will be done by Board volunteers on Saturday, 4/25 at 9 AM.  Discussion ensued regarding the overall plan for tree planting.  It was noted that another 30 larger trees will be planted along College Road in the fall.

Gregg Moore met with Management on 3/30 to discuss the west sign accent area at Green Trails Drive and Naper.  Gregg will prepare a redesign plan to be presented at next month’s Board meeting.

This year’s art project is a two-piece cement bird bath at a purchase price of $100.  The consensus of the Board was to purchase one bird bath; Roxanne Nagel volunteered to do the artwork for GTIA.

Management noted that there were no new sales in March for the College Green apartment-condo conversion.

Management reported that there were no new sales in March in the Torrey Pines conversion.

Management provided a list of March 2009 newcomers.  Board Directors are encouraged to call on newcomers in their respective areas.

Finance Committee

Don Helgeson distributed copies of the GTIA 2008 audit as prepared and presented by the auditor, Robert Ripp, to Peter Bakas, Michael Olson and himself at a Finance Committee meeting on Tuesday, March 24th.  The overall report was most favorable.

Board Motion:  Julie LaFond moved to accept the GTIA 2008 audit as presented, Terri Kolman seconded.  The motion was passed by unanimous voice vote.

Maintenance Committee

Les Lavin reported that Schwarz Nursery replaced the trees along College Road that had died.  Les requested a professional roofer to inspect the Gazebo roof, following an email that the Gazebo roof was in disrepair.  The opinion of the roofer was that the Gazebo does not yet require a new roof.  Les noted that more mulch is needed along rows in the Pine Grove.  The consensus of the Board was to request Management have a local contractor install single process mulch in that area, in an amount not to exceed $750.00.  The Maintenance Committee will meet prior to next month’s Board meeting to review area trail maps that reflect findings of trip hazards, drainage problems and miscellaneous repair requirements as documented by Board members during their inspections.

Communications Committee

Marg Hough called a meeting of the Communications Committee to review a proposed link to the GTIA website.  The link is from a Green Trails resident who has created a Green Trails Community networking site and would like to be linked to the GTIA website.  The full committee will meet again prior to the next Board meeting to discuss the pros and cons of this request.

Parks Committee

Marg Hough reported that the Park District has established a “no-mow” area around ponds and is requesting residents to honor that policy in the interest of ecology.

Nominating Committee

No report.
